The LS engine design has incredible potential, but once you start bolting on big superchargers, an aluminum block just can't contain all of that power. These iron LS blocks have all of the same potential, but their cast iron construction is capable of withstanding high-horsepower applications. This is a brand new 4.8L/5.3L block that has been bored to the stock 5.7L bore diameter of 3.898 in. and painted black. It includes side main bolts, expansion plugs, threaded plugs, oil restrictor, and dowel pins. Further over boring is not recommended without sonic testing.
